ARTICLE BY: PROF. EDWARD JAY M. QUINTO

The Association of Education Researchers and Trainers (ASSERT) led by the ASSERT’s Interim President and Dean of Mapúa University’s School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences met Dr. William Spady, well-reknowned Father of Outcome-Based Education, in a consultation meeting for ASSERT’s Research Discipleship Program. The meeting was held at Wangz Seafood Restaurant in Quezon City on February 9, 2017.

Dr. Spady lectured on the key content of his 1994 seminal work that set the foundation for Outcome-Based Education as it is today. Importantly, he shared inputs about how ASSERT could go about with its research discipleship program, which aims to produce researchers and trainers that have the knowledge and skills to advance OBE in the Philippine setting. These inputs now drive ASSERTS research thrusts and activities.

During the meeting and in other occasions where ASSERT and Dr. Spady met, the latter manifested his support and interest to collaborate with ASSERT in its future activities.
